Just like you, GOBI is becoming more and more aware of the challenges the world faces if it comes to climate change and social injustice. And probably also just like you, we are struggling with the right attitude towards these matters. What can we buy, and what not? Should we adjust our lifestyle, and how?

GOBI strives for a ‘sustainable’ business model and for ‘fair’ work for everyone in the production chain. Those are good sounding labels indeed, but it’s easy to use them without saying anything about what we actually do.

Therefore we decided not to claim these labels (anymore) without relating them to our specific situation: a young company finding its way on a highly competitive market. We would like to make our stakeholders – you as a customer, but also, for example, our suppliers – part of our quest to define and set goals for a sustainable strategy.

That’s not an easy thing to do. We don’t want to push aside the responsibility by hiring a consultancy agency to write an extensive sustainability report. We do it ourselves, because in this way we discover which values we really endorse*. For reporting on sustainability we make use of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), that provides universal recognized standards.

We consider our sustainable strategy to be an ever ongoing journey, in which new insights lead to new goals. Therefore you’ll find a list below that will be complemented with new topics. For 2021 we set goals on the short and the long term. Click on them to learn about how we approach them.
